The Alters to me is a great example of the consequences of bugs. I liked the base building and exploration. Strolling around alien landscapes looks and feels great in this game. The relationship sim side of it was thin but interesting. I got to the very end of the game when an autosave bug wiped out 6 hours of gameplay. I was saving manually just to be safe but the game doesn't give you a way to clear up the auto saves and there is a hard cap to the amount. It seems there is a bug about 2/3 into the game that when triggered will mess up saving much later. And this is the memory I am left with. Not the impressive visuals, the interesting base building, or puzzle like resource mining. Just how it wiped out my progress.
