Hard not to like a side scrolling metroidvania and this game scratches the itch well. Nice pixel art, reasonable combat and dark setting. Most of the bosses are reasonable to learn and combat feels fun most of the time. The weapon variety isn't very important as you can just update something through the end of the game. Spells really didn't even come into play. The final boss is a big difficulty spike but otherwise things felt balanced. It's definitely more on the soulslike side of difficulty but not terrible and certainly not elden ring.
